Dr. Michael Trofa attended Wesleyan University for his undergraduate training where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He then continued his education in Philadelphia, where he studied at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and received his D.M.D. in 2010.

Following dental school, Dr. Trofa completed a one year General Practice Residency at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. This year provided advanced training in all aspects of dentistry, as well as a rotation at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a member of the dental oncology team.

In 2011 Dr. Trofa began his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Connecticut. During his advanced specialty training, he also completed medical school and earned his M.D. in 2014 from the University of Connecticut, as well as completing two years of general surgery training.

The training provided during his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency included the full scope of oral surgery, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, cleft and craniofacial surgery, major head and neck trauma, general anesthesia IV sedation, facial cosmetic surgery, dental implants and bone grafts, dental alveolar surgery, full arch fixed construction, all-on-four, and treatment of wisdom teeth.

Dr. Trofa has lived in Connecticut for over 25 years and grew up in Wilton. He lives with his wife, Kim. Outside of work he enjoys soccer, golf, lifting, skiing. squash, and spending time outdoors with his dog.
